This lecture from VJ Eletroiman is about his experience in mapping and VJing. Since 2000, the artist has been working with stage design and live audiovisual performances. He has dedicated the past eight years to video mapping techniques. He will reveal some of his secrets during the lecture.
Ricardo Cançado, aka VJ Eletroiman, is a director of the Festival Visual Brasil. He is the winner of many VJ contests and often participates in audiovisual festivals across the world including Czech Republic, Spain, Italy, France, Hungary, Switzerland and Brazil.
The lecture is devoted to a media archeological phenomenon – those Ukrainian theaters that combined music, light, and color. They existed in Kyiv, Odessa, Kharkov, Poltava, Uzhgorod during the second half of the 20th century. Inspired by the early 20th century experiments of Scriabin and Čiurlionis, artists, engineers, and composers created complex dynamic light performances and engineered solutions for control boards and projectors which generated a visual image that moved in concert with the play’s music.
Yanina Prudenko is a Ph.D., Associate professor at Department of Cultural Studies, National Pedagogical Dragomanov University. Yanina is a correspondent at KORYDOR magazine specializing on the modern art. She is also a curator at the Open Archive of the Ukrainian Media Art and the New Art School specializing in the media art education in Ukraine. Jury member at the Kyiv Lights Festival.
“Exile” project is a unique phenomenon for the modern Ukrainian art that combines the digital and analogue technologies – computer music and continual light, controlled by an artist in a live artistic performance.

At his lecture Michiyuki is going to tell about his favourite Japanese media artists, presents some new names and to discover some specific features of Video Mapping in Japan. You will also learn about Projection Mapping Associations in Japan which he heads and see some of Michiyuki’s art works.
Michiyuki Ishita is an artist, creative director, space designer, video creator, event planner and producer. He chairs Projection Mapping Association of Japan/PMAJ. He is an organizer of One minute Projection Mapping Competition. That’s an international video mapping contest held in Japan since 2012.

Their work as artists and technologists spans from creating individual installation to preparing performances, large-scale and often as a response to place & space, to light & architecture, code & motion. The lecture is going to be about a selection of BLCK BOX’s projects. Media artists from BLCK BOX will talk about their work on selected installations and design for different shows, concerts, and parties.
Blck Box is a Kyiv Studio that specializes in new media. It works with VJing, video and sound art, design and development of interactive technologies, and software installations. The studio also serves as a center that brings together artists in the field of digital art.
Introducing Australian artist Craig Walsh’s selection of site-responsive artworks,whose work spans 20 years of practice. Craig will discuss a selection of concept-driven projection works that occupied unconventional sites and came as a result of specific community collaborations.

At this lecture, you will get a general explanation of how to generate and use improvised content for stage design and architectural spaces. Together with our jury member, Nicola Pavone, you will observe diverse techniques for the production and use of site-specific footage, in order to create a video installation (VVVV and Resolume will be used). This workshop is intended for anyone who has a minimal understanding of Graphic design and software (es. Photoshop). Each participant should bring their own notebook computer.
Nicola Pavone, aka Vj Luper, is a video artist, programmer and interactive media designer based in Prague. Nicola is a curator of the OFF section of SIGNAL Lights Festival in Prague and one of the organizers of BYOB Prague.
Since ancient times, architecture has been earthen, wooden, and stone. The 20th century made architecture light and transparent, with metallic luster and glass reflection. New architecture is virtual, dynamic, equipped with media tools, and even interactive. At the lecture, we will consider cyber stylistics, media facades, architectural capabilities of the virtual environment, and other futuristic manifestations of this trend.
